Missing teeth no longer means that you need to go the rest of your life with gaps in your smile. Dental implants are an excellent solution. They have all sorts of different benefits that you will experience once they completely heal, including the fact that you won’t need to struggle with a limited menu because of numerous eating restrictions. Continue reading to learn which summer foods you can enjoy after your dental implant placement surgery.
What Summer Foods Can You Have After Implant Surgery?
Before your implants have been given the opportunity to completely heal, you will need to take it easy for some time. The good news is that there are still some yummy foods that you can enjoy until then. Here are some great summer treats to start out with:
- Avocado
- Baked beans
- Eggs
- Banana
- Smoothies
- Noodles
- Fish
- Rice dishes
Which Summer Foods Should You Avoid?
While your implants are still in the healing process, it is a good idea for you to avoid the foods listed below:
- Corn on the cob: If you’re looking for a side of corn with your meal, cut it off of the cob. This way, you don’t disturb the dental implant healing process.
- Hot dogs: A hot, juicy hotdog with all of your favorite toppings is delicious on a hot summer day, but it’s loaded with processed saturated fat. This leads to gum inflammation and even periodontal disease. You can enjoy one every once in a while, but it’s better to save this summer favorite for special occasions.
- Sugary drinks: Soda, fruit juices, and sports drinks are terrible for your natural teeth. Even though they don’t cause much harm to your replacement teeth, they could damage your surrounding teeth and cause other issues in your mouth.
- Hard foods: This includes chips, nuts, and apples. They can be hard on your implants as they are still fusing with your jawbone. They are best to avoid until the healing process is complete.
What Summer Foods Can You Enjoy After Osseointegration?
After your implants have completely fused with the jawbone, you can pretty much enjoy all of the delicious foods that you enjoyed before. This includes meat and the treats that are more difficult to chew. If you have any concerns about a particular type of food, just give your dentist a call. They will be able to give you advice.
Until your implants have healed, give them a break. But afterwards, everything is back on the menu. You will be experiencing all of the benefits of your restored smile in no time!
